Senior Cyber Underwriter (Benelux)
About Stoïk
Founded in 2021, Stoïk is Europe’s leading insurtech dedicated to cyber risk, with the ambition of becoming the CISO of Europe. The company was created to address a structural gap: while cyber threats have become one of the biggest risks for businesses, most existing solutions remain fragmented, overly technical, or designed only for large enterprises.
The company has built a 360° cyber risk protection model that integrates cyber insurance, continuous risk prevention, detection, and in-house incident response teams, increasingly powered by proprietary AI technologies. This approach allows Stoïk to support companies before, during, and after a cyberattack, helping them maintain operations, reduce financial losses, and recover faster.
Backed by €70m+ in funding from top-tier investors (a16z, Alven, Munich Re), Stoïk protects more than 12,000 companies across Europe, works with over 2,000 broker partners, and operates in six European countries including France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, and Netherlands, supported by a fast-growing international team of specialists.
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Cyber Underwriter to drive the profitable growth of our Cyber portfolio across the Flemish region of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Focusing primarily on SME and Mid-Market segments, you will leverage your technical expertise to assess cyber risks, support our sales teams in strategic client meetings, and act as a key market authority in the Benelux region.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Underwrite and price Cyber risks for Mid-Market companies, in accordance with company guidelines, risk appetite, and authority limits.
Portfolio Management & Reporting: Monitor and manage the financial performance of the Benelux Cyber book, reporting directly to the Head of Underwriting.
Sales Support & Business Development: Actively support and empower the commercial teams by accompanying them to strategic broker and client meetings to help secure key accounts, rather than focusing purely on direct relationship building.
Key Collaborations & Cross-Functional Relations
Work hand-in-hand with the Incident Response teams (CERT) and Claims departments to ensure alignment on threat intelligence and claims trends.
Collaborate closely with the sales teams to drive cyber awareness and pipeline growth across the region.
Who we're looking for
Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of dedicated Cyber underwriting experience gained within a reputable insurance company, Managing General Agent (MGA), or specialized broker.
Market Knowledge: Proven track record of handling cyber risks in the Benelux market, with a strong understanding of SME and mid-market business dynamics.
Analytical & Commercial Skills: Strong financial acumen, a technical understanding of cyber security frameworks, and a highly collaborative, solution-oriented mindset to effectively support sales efforts.
Language Requirements
Flemish / Dutch: Native or bilingual proficiency (essential for local broker engagement and policy analysis).
English: Fluent/Business proficient (written and spoken) for corporate and internal reporting.
Other Languages: Proficiency in French, German, Spanish, Italian, or any other European language is considered a distinct advantage.
